Is it time to replace your roller shades? Has the spring lost its bounce? If so, then you are faced with more options than ever for Window Treatments. Whether you want to replace the shades with new roller shades or you want to try something new, you will need a crash course on what is available today.
Energy Efficient Blinds and Shades
One of the most exciting new developments in window treatments is the manufacturing of energy efficient blinds. Don't think you have to give up style to get energy efficient blinds either. You can find a wide variety of styles and colors all while shopping for energy efficiency.
One of the more elegant energy efficient shades is the roman shade. Called "fusion shades," the classic roman shade is fused with an energy efficient shade to give you the best of both worlds.
If you are a fan of the roller shade, then they come in energy efficient varieties too. The tightest weaved roller shade has a 4% openness. This means that only 4% of the shade is open for light to travel through.
Federal Tax Credit for Energy Efficient Shades
The Federal government has extended the Federal Tax Credit through the end of 2010. Therefore, qualifying shades are eligible for the tax credit. If you want to check these out, look for the ComforTrack side tract. This side tract qualifies for the Federal Tax Credit. So not only do you save money each month on your energy bill, you can get a Federal Tax Credit as well.
Go Cordless for Child Safety
In the past, if you wanted to go cordless, you only option was the roller shade. This is no longer the case. Almost every style of blind now can be upgraded to cordless. Even the fancy roman shades come in the cordless variety.
When you purchase cordless shades, all you do is push up on the bottom on the blind to raise it. To lower, you simple pull down in the bottom. It does not take much force at all and is so simple a child can do it.
Additionally, choosing cordless shades gives you an added sense of security. The Window Covering Safety Council along with major blinds manufacturers recommend only installing cordless shades in home with young children. While other blinds can be safe (if properly manufactured), cords have posed a safety hazard for young children.
